The Wytches announce second album, All Your Happy Life

The Brighton psych-surf-doomsters are back with their followup to Annabel Dream Reader

Back in 2014 we called The Wytches debut LP, Annabel Dream Reader, “one of the best albums we’ve ever heard” and said that it made “an exciting change to hear a band so committed to making genuinely scary, earthshaking music.”

The trio have now announced their second full-length instalment, All Your Happy Life, and it seems they’re sticking to the script. Press materials describe the forthcoming album as “a combination of heavy comedown psychedelia and bilious and brilliant baroque ‘n’ roll”, and go on to say the album is as “portentous and scathing” as it is “utterly nihilistic” and “scabrous and bold.”

All Your Happy Life was recorded by Jim Sclavunos, who has worked with Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds  and Grinderman, in Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire and then Toe Rag in East London, and mixed by Sclavunos and Mikey Young. It will be released on Heavenly Recordings on 30 September.

Check out the tracklist and artwork below, as well as the UK dates they’ve got coming up. We also recorded a live session with the band over at Invada Studios in 2014. Check out the band playing Darker above.
