Grace Jones announced as Afropunk London headliner

Laura Mvula, Lady Leshurr, Skinny Girl Diet and more have also been added to the line-up for the first ever edition of Afropunk London

Despite the fact it was only announced a few weeks ago it feels like we’ve been waiting forever for Afropunk London. The diversity promoting, culture spreading festival is only just around the corner now though and they’ve just announced a whole host of new acts who’ve been added to the lineup.

Iconic singer, model and actress Grace Jones will replace MIA as the festival’s headliner while Laura Mvula, Kwabs, The Noisettes, Loyle Carner, Goldlink, Joe Kay, The Whooligan, Hannah Faith, Eden Hagos, MNEK, Lady Leshurr, Skinny Girl Diet, Jorja Smith, Big Joanie, Nova Twins, The Connectors and Mikel Ameen are all joining the bill.

Afropunk started in Brooklyn in 2005 and has spent the last ten years spreading their message far and wide. It has always been more than a festival, it’s a safe space that promotes self-empowerment, tolerance and political awareness. 24 September will be the festival’s first ever foray into the UK and you can expect them to bring that fighting spirit along with them. Grab tickets here and head over to their website for the full line-up.
