The much-respected emo experimentalists are back seventeen years after their first LP release

Experimental emo all-stars American Football are back with an announcement of an eponymous second album.

The band from Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, were originally active from 1997 to 2000, and released just one EP and LP (each called American Football). Since their split in the same year of their classic 1999 album, inspired by the resurgence of popularity around the first American Football record’s reissue, the band have reunited for three headline shows, selling out 3 nights at Webster Hall in New York City in 2014, and festival dates since then.

The forthcoming album will also be called American Football, and is now available to pre-order on CD, digital and orange vinyl before its release on 21 October via Wichita Recordings. American Football was recorded this spring at ARC Studios in Omaha and SIRK Studios in Chicago and was produced by the band and Jason Cupp.
