Deafheaven’s George Clarke shares Vorhees collaboration

The 20-minute ambient piece RVIII: Invocation was made to accompany a new performance art piece called Rural Violence III (Rebirth)

George Clarke, lead singer of post-metal titans Deafheaven and sound designer Dana Wachs aka Vorhees have collaborated on a brand new piece of ambient music. The nearly 20-minute track was written to soundtrack a brand new performance art piece by former Pitchfork editor Brandon Stosuy entitled Rural Violence III (Rebirth).

The piece is loosely based on the 1998 murder of American college student Mathew Shepard and all proceeds from the Clarke and Wachs’ track will go to the Matthew Shepard Foundation – a charity focussing on LGBTQ rights and youth awareness.

The performance takes place at an undisclosed location in Wyoming (to be revealed upon RSVP) on 6 August and also features works by Prurient, Angel Deradoorian, Matthew Barney and more.
