Massive Attack announce Tricky and Young Fathers guest spots at The Downs Festival

Line-up of speakers also announced for ‘The Information’ stage at the festival, including Kate Tempest and Help Refugees founder Lliana Bird

Original Massive Attack collaborator Tricky is to perform live with Massive Attack at The Downs Festival. Given the acrimonious nature of their split, for a long time it seemed that a reunion of this nature would never happen. However, following on from 3D, released at the beginning of the year, and guest spots on the current tour, the hatchet looks to be well and truly buried. This will be the first time they perform together in Bristol in over 20 years.

Young Fathers have also been added to the bill, coming off the back of their recent work with Massive Attack that includes the track Voodoo in my Blood from earlier this year.

‘The Information’ stage line-up has also been revealed. The area will showcase a variety of speakers with differing experiences with the theme of using different forms of communication to affect social change and draw attention to problems and issues that affect us all.

The speakers list is made up of Kate Tempest, a musician and novelist, photojournalist Giles Duley, Dan Efergan, digital creative director of animation studio Aardman, food-waste campaign Skipchen’s founder Sam Joseph, Hassan Akkad, a Syrian refugee and subject of Exodus: Our Journey to Europe and Help Refugees founder Lliana Bird.

Organisers are also reminding ticket holders that there will be no parking and that transport info can be found at the Massive Attack website.
