Prince’s music will arrive on Spotify on 12 February, to coincide with a tribute performance at The Grammys.
Billboard reports that the back catalogue of the icon, who died in April of last year, will land on streaming services with an announcement airing during the ceremony.
Spotify have been teasing the announcement with a series of purple ads across across New York. Pitchfork reports that Prince’s music will also be available on Apple Music “very soon”.
Up until now, Prince’s music has only be streamable via Jay Z’s Tidal platform. Prince’s estate sued Roc Nation for copyright infringement over the service’s streaming rights to the back catalogue in November.
Spotify, Apple Music, Warner Music and the Prince estate declined Billboard‘s request for comments.
Do these purple Spotify ads mean what everyone thinks they mean? (That would be, Prince). https://t.co/lfF8JYp1v0 pic.twitter.com/kcqNLqaY6H
