Ryuichi Sakamoto set to release his first album in eight years

The as-yet untitled album is due to drop on 28 April.

The pioneering composer, writer and pianist Ryuichi Sakamoto has released details of a new album, the first to be released since his recovery from throat cancer.

The full-length comes eight years after the former YMO member’s last original album, 2009’s Out of Noise. The composer, however, received a Golden Globe nomination for his work alongside German electronic composer Alva Noto on the score for The Revenant.

Details on the new album are currently scarce – the title of the album is yet to be released – but according to a countdown Sakamoto’s website, the album is due to arrive on 28 April.
