Brits 2017: Drake and Beyoncé win Best International Artist categories

“Brits, wagwan?”

As the 2017 Brit Awards ceremony at London’s O2 Arena enters its final stretch, the award for Best International Male goes to Drake, while – in a somewhat hurried announcement by the award presenters, Beyoncé scooped Best International Female. He beat Bon Iver, Bruno Mars, Leonard Cohen and The Weeknd in the category.

While Drake was unable to attend in person as he was performing in Birmingham as part of his Boy Meets World Tour, he did make an appearance via video screen. Wearing a Stone Island longsleeve, he announced “Brits, wagwan?” He also gave a shout out to Skepta, who earlier lost his category to Rag’n’Bone Man in one of the biggest upsets of the night.

Beyoncé, who beat out her sister Solange as well as Rihanna, Sia and Christine and the Queens, did not appear in person and did not record a message. A Tribe Called Quest rounded off the international categories by taking the award for Best International Group.
