Ex-Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse is retiring to become a DJ

BBC Sport are reporting that former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse is officially retiring from the sport and pursuing a career as a DJ and producer.

In a statement to Yahoo! Sport, the footballer said, “I loved being a footballer, and so far the ball has been my life. I would have liked to continue playing but I must admit today that football is over. With the same passion, I will devote myself wholeheartedly to my career as DJ, producer and consultant, as well as developing my clothing brand. Thank you for all your support. The adventure continues, another life begins. A lion never dies.”

Cisse had been DJing and producing for a number of years (get a taste for his sets in the video below) but this announcement signals the fact that he is officially hanging up his boots for good.

Cisse scored 13 goals for Liverpool between 2004 and 2007. He originally called time on his career in October of 2015 because of an injury but planned on making a return after having surgery last year. He trained with his first club Auxerre, but after failing to earn a contract, he made the decision to bring an end to his 17-year career.
