The 59th Annual Grammy Awards will feature tributes to two icons we have lost in the past year – Prince and George Michael.
Speaking about the announcement, Recording Academy CEO Neil Portnow said he is “humbled to pay homage to their tremendous legacies on the GRAMMY stage.”
The announcement follows news that Prince’s music will become available on streaming services in conjunction with The Grammy Awards.
The tribute joins a lineup for the bash featuring Lady Gaga & Metallica, Chance The Rapper, Adele and Daft Punk.
In 1994, when both artists were having contractural troubles with major labels, Prince expressed his support for George Michael in a magazine interview. Read his message of support here and follow our socials on Sunday night for live updates covering the ceremony.
