Beyoncé launches Formation Scholars program for women

Four women will receive support from the global superstar each year for studies in music, the creative arts, literature and African-American studies

To celebrate Lemonade’s one-year anniversary, Beyoncé has announced her scholarship program, entitled Formation Scholars.

The aim of the scholarship is to “encourage and support young women who are unafraid to think outside the box and are bold, creative, conscious and confident”.

The program will award four women who are “unafraid to think outside the box and are bold, creative, conscious and confident”. Participating colleges include the Berklee College of Music, Howard University, Parsons School of Design, and Spelman College. One scholarship will be awarded to a female from each college, and funding will begin from the 2017-2018 academic year.
