Madonna slams Universal’s biopic, Blond Ambition

“Only I can tell my story. Anyone else who tries is a charlatan and a fool.”

It’s been announced that a biopic – entitled Blond Ambition – on the pop icon’s pre-fame life in the 80s is in the works. The screenplay, penned by newcomer Elyse Hollander, has been picked up by Universal after topping the Black List – which features the best unproduced screenplays.

According to the Hollywood Reporterthe story is “set in early 1980s New York as Madonna Louise Ciccone works on her first album, struggling in a business that treats women badly, while also dealing with a burgeoning love life and the first hints of fame.”

On Tuesday night (25 April), Madonna shared an image of herself from the 80s on Instagram, with a caption that slams the biopic.

She says, “Nobody knows what I know and what I have seen. Only I can tell my story.”

She further comments on the issue, stating that those who are telling her story are “looking for instant gratification without doing the work”, and that this move is “a disease in our society”.
