Charles Jeffrey, Liam Hodges, A-COLD-WALL* and more announced for NEWGEN 2017

The BFC scheme has unveiled the designers who will receive financial support and be given an opportunity to showcase their work at The Store Studios

Yesterday (11 April), the British Fashion Council announced NEWGEN’s 2017 recipients.

This year, NEWGEN will welcome newcomers Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY, A-COLD-WALL*, Richard Malone, Halpern and Nicholas Davey to the platform.

They’ll be joining a roster of designers who will continue to receive support from the initiative, including Liam Hodges, Phoebe English MAN, COTTWEILER, Molly Goddard, Wales Bonner, Paula Knorr, Sadie Williams and 2016 Central Saint Martins graduate Kiko Kostadinov.

The ‘One to Watch’ support has been awarded to ‘cracked couture’ designer Richard Quinn, who’s also previously won the H&M Design Award 2017.

This year, the format has changed to incorporate 15 emerging menswear and womenswear designers under one initiative. Previously, NEWGEN and NEWGEN MEN were two distinctly separate platforms. Furthermore, designers will be announced annually from this year onwards, rather than seasonally.

The initiative first began in 1993, and provided designers such as Alexander McQueen, Christopher Kane and J.W. Anderson with a platform from which they launched their illustrious careers.
