Damon Albarn discusses voting for the snap election on Channel 4 news

“We’re going down a route that doesn’t really listen to the voices of the young, and it seems to be dictated by the more comfortable, older, English voter. Conservative voter, essentially”

In a new clip posted by Channel 4 News today (5 May), Gorillaz member Damon Albarn argues that Britain’s isolationism, focused on nostalgia rather than moving forwards, doesn’t listen to the younger generation. The musician states that “there are huge problems that need to be addressed.”

In the video, he discusses how older, Conservative voters are opting for nostalgia, and highlights his daughter’s frustrations over being too young to vote in the upcoming General Election on 8 June.

He says, “Isolation, to my mind, is going back. We need to go forward. We need to keep our minds open.”
