Frank Ocean cancels Primavera Sound performance

Production delays are cited as the reason behind the cancellation

Frank Ocean has cancelled his Friday night set at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound festival less than a week before he was due to play. The announcement was delivered in a statement on the Primavera website and Facebook page with “production delays” given as the reason behind the short notice cancellation.

“We regret to announce that Frank Ocean’s concert programmed on Friday 2nd June in the Parc del Fòrum as part of Primavera Sound festival has been cancelled due to production delays beyond his control, ” the statement says. “The artist has apologised and has reiterated his wish to come to Barcelona soon.”

According to the statement, the festival will announce Ocean’s replacement in the coming days, meanwhile refunds are being offered for day ticket holders: “Anyone who has a day ticket for Friday June 2 will be able to ask for a refund of the sale price until Tuesday May 30 at 11:59 pm (GMT+1).”

The artist had previously cancelled his appearances at US festivals Sasquatch! and Hangout.

Primavera Sound takes place 31 May – 4 June and features Arcade Fire, The xx and Aphex Twin among the headliners. To find out more information including how to claim a refund go here.
