Keith Mitchell, the drummer of Mazzy Star, has died. The band announced the news on Sunday (15 May) although the cause of death is not yet known
Mazzy Star members Hope Sandoval and David Roback said in a statement on Facebook: “Our hearts are broken. We have lost the much beloved Keith Mitchell, a very talented and amazing drummer that we have had the privilege to work with for many years, he will live in all of our hearts forever… We’ll miss you Big Fella.”
One of the original members of Mazzy Star, Keith was a key part of the California dream pop band’s sound, providing the rhythmic underpinning of all their albums and, of course, their breakthrough mainstream hit Fade Into You.
