Listen to Mobb Deep’s Prodigy read excerpts from his prison cookbook

Following the sad news that New York rap pioneer Prodigy of Mobb Deep passed away on Tuesday, we were reminded of the rappers prison cookery book which got published last year.

The book, entitled Commissary Kitchen: My Infamous Prison Cookbook was published through Akashic Books in October 2016. It was written by Proidgy and author Kathy Iandoli.

The focus of the book was keeping healthy behind bars. Prodigy served three years in prison for illegal possession of a firearm, starting in 2008. He kept a record of the meals he was making and published them in the book – half recipe book, half personal account of life inside.

Around the time of the release, Genius hosted a series of snippets from the audiobook version, read by Prodigy himself.

Listen to them below and check out a series of tributes for Prodigy hereCommissary Kitchen: My Infamous Prison Cookbook is available for purchase via Amazon.
