Big Fish Theory, the second studio album from Long Beach rapper Vince Staples, came out on Friday (23 June) via Def Jam.
There are a host of collaborators and guest producers on the record including a huge collaboration with Kendrick Lamar on an instrumental produced by SOPHIE.
The album’s third track, Alyssa Interlude features a sample of audio from an Amy Winehouse interview featured in Asif Kapadia’s Oscar-winning 2015 documentary Amy.
In the snippet, Winehouse discusses love and how her personal experiences of it inspire her songwriting. As Genius points out, Staples had previously discussed how Amy inspired him to make his 2016 Prima Donna EP in an interview with Vulture.
The track later samples I Wish It Would Rain, a 1967 track by The Temptations.
