Featuring The Turbans, Anushka & Xoa, Sola Akingbola and Horace Andy on the line-up
Borderless is a series of gigs showcasing emerging talent from around the globe, and it’s heading to Theatre Royal Stratford East for its forthcoming string of shows. The programme for September and October has now been announced, and it’ll be hosted in conjunction with music and events agency GOAT music.
International collective The Turbans will be performing on 27 September, while the Brownswood-signed duo Anushka – made up of producer Max Wheeler and singer-songwriter Victoria Port – will be kickstarting next month’s schedule with a DJ set, joined by a live show of dancefloor grooves from Xoa on 12 October.
Furthermore, women-led vocal collective Deep Throat Choir and Some Voices have been announced for a show on 18 October, and Jamiroquai percussionist and bandleader Sola Akingbola will be bringing his live group Critical Mass to head up the theatre with a special guest during the same week. Rounding off the programme is the influential reggae legend Horace Andy – who’s previously collaborated with Massive Attack – on 21 October.
In May, Borderless descended upon the Battersea Arts Centre to present a line-up of UK and international talent with GOAT Music. Legendary MC Trim and jazz artist Soweta Kinch were lined up for the series of events, amongst others.
