The prequel to Blade Runner 2049 is from Cowboy Bebop director Shinichiro Watanabe
Earlier this month, it was announced that former Crack cover star Steven Ellison – aka Flying Lotus – had scored the third and final prequel to the highly anticipated Blade Runner 2049. The score also features music from Miguel Atwood-Ferguson and Kuedo. Directed by Shinichiro Watanabe, the short anime is named Blade Runner Black Out 2022 and it can now be watched in its entirety on Crunchyroll.
Ellison said via his Twitter, “Doing something with Watanabe was a dream of mine. Cowboy Bebop is one of the greatest!”
He added, “When I saw a rough cut of 2022 the temp music was from my past albums. Seeing Blade Runner imagery set to my music was a beautiful feeling”.
Blade Runner 2049 is due to hit cinemas on 6 October. Listen to Crack’s playlist: Blade Runner and Beyond.
