Listen to an 11-year-old track by Omar-S and Young Seth

Out Friday (20 October) via Tuskegee Music, Lost And Found is an EP of previously unreleased tracks by Seth Troxler (operating under his Young Seth alias), two of which are collaborations with Detroit master Omar-S.

Today we’re premiering the A1 of the release – Deep (CDV 2006 Mix). The story goes that the cut was inspired by a trip Seth made to Berlin’s Club Der Visionaere in 2005. As he recounts in a press release, “It basically was me returning to Detroit and telling Omar about this crazy music I heard Ricardo play during the day.”

Judging by the deep grooves and loose bassy atmospherics of the track, the story checks out. The elastic, unfastened nature of the production vividly evokes the famed Sunday afternoons overlooking the canal just off Kreuzberg.

The charmingly DIY, lo-fi fabric of the sound is something Seth is keen to celebrate. Speaking to Crack Magazine over email, reflecting on the collaboration which he produced over a decade ago, Seth wrote, “These are amongst some of the first tracks I ever made, they’re amateur and pure, and I like that. So better late than never.”
