My Bloody Valentine to release new album in 2018

In September, a My Bloody Valentine bio for the festival Norður og Niður claimed that the group were working on new material. In an interview with Pitchfork, frontman Kevin Shields revealed that there’s a new album in the works.

According to Shields, the band started recording the album, the follow-up to 2013’s m b v,  last year, but production was halted due to work on the analogue remasters of Loveless and Isn’t Anything.

Shields details, “Basically, the record started off as an EP, and I realised it has to be, like, a mini-album, because it’s going to be at least 40 minutes long. So it’s going to be an album, but I don’t really know how many tracks it’s going to be. It’ll probably be seven or eight, by the looks of it.”

On whether the album will be released next year, the musician affirmed, “Oh, we one hundred percent will”.

Shields also stated that the group will be performing shows, beginning from summer. “We’re going to play live again, so that’s always a really good way to guarantee that we’ll get the record done.”
