Sónar are set to celebrate their 25th anniversary next year, and they’ve revealed the first wave of names for their festival.
Set to take place in Barcelona on 14-16 June, it’s been announced that former Crack cover stars LCD Soundsystem, Helena Hauff and Gorillaz will be taking to the stage. Bicep have been confirmed for a live set, and they’ll be joined on the line-up by the likes of Wiley, Bonobo, Black Coffee, Lorenzo Senni and Nídia amongst others. Kode9 is set to make an appearance, teaming up with Japanese anime director Koji Morimoto for an audiovisual show.
Previously, Sónar revealed that they’ll be attempting to reach extraterrestrial life by sending music into outer space. As part of their 25th anniversary celebrations, the initiative Sónar Calling GJ273b has recruited a roster of artists – including Fatima Al Qadiri, Nina Kraviz and The Black Madonna – for recordings to be transmitted beyond the limits of our solar system.
