Future Islands to headline Bluedot 2018

Bluedot is set to return to the Jodrell Bank Observatory, Cheshire, on 19-22 July.

Home to the Lovell telescope, the festival combines live science experiments with immersive art and music, celebrating the intersection of science and sounds.

Former Crack cover stars Future Islands have been announced as the event’s headliner, along with The Flaming Lips and The Chemical Brothers. Bluedot will also be hosting the likes of Little Dragon, Nadine Shah, Gilles Peterson, Hookworms, Roni Size, Pink Kink and more. A special performance will also take place on the festival’s opening night, with The Halle performing a ‘Blue Planet in Show’ concert.

Extending beyond the remit of music, there’ll be talks from thinkers and scientists on topics such as outer space and climate change.

Festival director, Ben Robinson said in a press statement, “Our mission is to not only erode the boundaries between science, culture, art and technology but to also highlight the beauty and fragility of our planet Earth”.
