Listen to an exclusive hypnotising after-hours mix from Midland

UK producer Midland, aka Harry Agius, steps up for the latest instalment of the Monolithic mix series – a collection of mixes used to soundtrack a light instillation which debuted at Bristol club Motion last summer.

Designed by squidsoup, Monolithic is composed of 5,376 suspended LEDs, and soundtracked by a series of ambient and downtempo mixes from Octo Octa, Axel Boman, Mr Price, Tobias and others. You can listen to previous contributions here.

For Midland’s contribution, he stitched together 60 minutes of whispered pads, loose piano motifs and blissful breathy vocal interludes. The opportunity to produce something for Monolithic tied in nicely with a concept he’d been dreaming up for a while.

“This mix is based on a concept I have been thinking about of music to listen to ‘As the city sleeps’,” Harry told us over email, “The mix as an imaginary soundtrack to my favourite time of day, between 4-5am, when you fall in love, learn the most about your friends and and when the city feels like it belongs to you and only a few others.”
