Alice Glass to seek legal fees from Ethan Kath following dismissal of lawsuit

According to Toronto Stara representative for Alice Glass will return to court on 3 April to ask for a reimbursement of Glass’ legal fees, after a defamation lawsuit filed by Ethan Kath was dismissed in court. Vicki Greco, Glass’ lawyer, is seeking $20,000 from Kath.

Last October, Glass released a statement on her website detailing years of alleged rape and abuse from former bandmate Ethan Kath. “He forced me to have sex with him or, he said, I wouldn’t be allowed to be in the band anymore,” she said. In response, Kath denied the allegations and filed a defamation lawsuit against Glass. However, last week, the suit was dismissed.

“I won in court today!! the defamation lawsuit against me was dismissed ! thank you so much for the love and support throughout this ugly process,” Alice Glass tweeted. “this is a victory for survivors of abuse and sexual misconduct in countries where abusers use the court system to further victimize and keep people silent. WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED”.

In a conversation with Zola Jesus for Interview Magazine, Glass said on the #MeToo movement, “All the women who have found the courage to come forward are inspiring. I really wanted to be a part of that conversation. Abuse lives in silence, and I don’t want to be a part of that silence anymore. It felt like, at some point, my silence was doing nothing but creating a climate for other people to be taken advantage of.”

She added, “From my fans and other people who have reached out, it’s been way more positive than I would have anticipated.”
