Pioneering house producer Boyd Jarvis dies aged 59

The influential house producer and musician Boyd Jarvis has passed away.

Jarvis is best known for co-producing the 1983 hit The Music Got Me, released via Prelude Records. A pivotal figure in dance music, he was highly influential in shaping the house music revolution and the course of garage.

Jarvis worked with producers such as Francois K and Joe Claussell during his musical trajectory, and behind the scenes, he collaborated with artists such as Prince, Madonna and Herbie Hancock. He was also a co-host on the New York station WBLS.

In 2016, the artist was diagnosed with cancer. A GoFundMe was set up to help pay for the medical costs and a fundraiser party was organised in New York.
