Sade’s first new song in seven years is produced by No I.D.

Yesterday (20 February), we learned of the exciting news that Sade would be releasing her first new track in seven years. She has recorded new original material to soundtrack the upcoming film A Wrinkle In Time.

Entitled Flower of the Universe, the track will be her first new song since her bonus tracks on the 2011 compilation The Ultimate Collection. Director Ava DuVernay announced the news today (20 February) on Twitter, with the caption: “I never thought she’d say yes, but asked anyway. She was kind + giving. A goddess. We began a journey together that I’ll never forget. Proud to announce that Sade has created an original song for WRINKLE IN TIME. It’s entitled Flower of the Universe. And it’s a dream come true.”

The track is out in March. But some exciting news just broke on Twitter – it’s produced by legendary producer No I.D. who shared the news story on his account with the caption “Proud to produce this one”

A Wrinkle In Time is an adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s 1962 novel of the same name. Starring Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon, the film will tell the tale of a young girl searching for her father, who goes missing after discovering a planet.

The soundtrack will also include music from Kehlani, DJ Khaled and Sia amongst others. Flower of the Universe will land on 9 March, along with the film’s release.
