New BBC Three documentary explores sex cult allegations against R Kelly

A BBC Three documentary, entitled R Kelly: Sex, Girls and Videotapes, accuses the RnB artist of keeping a 14-year-old as a “sex pet”.

Last year, allegations emerged against the RnB artist, accusing him of holding women in an abusive cult. Women are allegedly ordered to follow Kelly’s rules, and non-compliance is punished with physical and verbal abuse. Former insiders, such as Kitti Jones and Jerhonda Pace came forward last year. Kelly has denied the allegations.

Now, filmmaker and former R Kelly fan Ben Zand has directed a documentary in Chicago, where past members of R Kelly’s alleged cult speak out. Kitti Jones details the artist’s “sex dungeon” and claims he once tried to train a 14-year-old into being one of his “pets”. It also looks into a R Kelly sex tape that first surfaced in 2002.

Lovell Jones, a collaborator and friend of the artist, claims Kelly asked him to look for girls “that looked young” after the shows. Also making an appearance on the documentary is studio engineer James Lee, who says the artist had two lounges in the studio, one which was kept as a private bedroom that always had a woman inside. According to Lee, women were kept in the studio and dressed only in underwear, providing Kelly with inspiration for his songs.

R Kelly: Sex, Girls and Videotapes is available to watch now on BBC Three iPlayer.
