Watch the beamed-up video for E Ruscha V and Woo’s sunny track Woo Are You

Earlier this month, Eddie Ruscha released his synth project Who Are You on NYC imprint Beats in Space, his first album release under the moniker E Ruscha V.

Its standout title track, Woo Are You, sees the LA musician connect with ambient pop brothers Woo for an uplifting cut, which, today (27 March), comes complemented by a sunny, beamed-up black-and-white video, layered with animated illustrations.

“When I was working on some of the material for Who Are You I found myself thinking that certain passages had the feel or mood of Woo. It wasn’t conscious per se, it was just a natural arrival, having soaked in their music over the years,” Ruscha says on the album. “Woo was always so special to me, and I hold them up there with the greats so the idea of a collaboration would have been a dream. When I first received the mixes they had done I was so nervous to press play, as one would when listening to your heroes take on your own music. As it started to unfold I was completely awestruck with what they had done.”

“The vocals and lyrics are the sweet feeling of the mysterious that only they can achieve, coloured by incredible unfurling orchestrations. It turned out to be the perfect collaboration and I couldn’t have asked for it to be any better.”

We’re excited to be hosting the premiere of Woo Are You, directed by experimental filmmaker Dustin Lynn, who’s known for his diverse and poetic works on 16mm film.
