Last Saturday (14 April), Beyoncé headlined Coachella, during which she gave an incredible performance that saw Jay-Z and Solange join her on stage, as well as Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland for a surprise Destiny’s Child reunion.
Another notable highlight, however, is the moment Bey paid homage to pioneering Nigerian artist Fela Kuti. Whilst she briefly left the stage, the band performed their rendition of Kuti’s track Zombie, taken from his album 1976 album of the same name.
Beyoncé’s performance at this year’s instalment of Coachella was, as can be expected, a highly anticipated set after the star cancelled her slot last year due to her pregnancy with twins. This year, she became the first black woman to headline Coachella since its inception in 1999.
Coachella runs from 13-22 April, at Indio, California.
