Yasuaki Shimizu and Scopex reissues top Discogs’ bestsellers list

Discogs has published its first quarterly report of 2018, revealing that two reissue albums are the site’s bestsellers, beating albums from Madonna, Gorillaz and Prince.

Topping the list is the 2017 re-release of Scopex 98/00 and ranking at second place is Yasuaki Shimizu’s 1982 LP Kakashi – which was re-pressed by Palto Flats and WRWTFWW. The Japanese ambient, jazz and new age album features on Crack Magazine’s list of 7 Essential Japanese Ambient and New Age Records.

The report’s findings, drawn from over 350,000 submissions, also lists Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. as its most collected new release and The Beatles’ Love Me Do as its most expensive record, sold for $10,502.

Last year, the site’s end of year report listed Radiohead’s deluxe edition of OK Computer and Midori Takada’s cult classic Through the Looking Glass as its bestsellers.
