Wes Anderson is co-curating a new museum exhibition in Vienna

It will be the American director’s first time curating an exhibition.

Wes Anderson and his partner, novelist and designer Juman Malouf, are curating a new museum exhibition this autumn at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. The exhibition, named The Spitzmaus Mummy in a Coffin and Other Treasures from the Kunsthistorisches Museum will premiere on 6 November and be on display until next April.

Jasper Sharpe, the museum’s in-house curator, has released a video teasing the forthcoming exhibition. According to Sharpe,The Spitzmaus Mummy… will showcase work handpicked from the museum’s substantial collection, including items currently on display and in storage. Sharpe describes the exhibition as “an embarrassment of riches” and “unlike anything the museum has done before”.

“We have given Wes and Juman a very special but somewhat overwhelming invitation,” Sharpe states in the video. “What they’re going to do, we’re not going to tell you just yet, but you can come to the Kunsthistorisches Museum to find out”.

Artworks up for selection include paintings by Old Masters, Egyptian mummies, Greek and Roman antiquities and more.
