Acid house pioneers 808 State are heading on a UK tour in celebration of their 30-year musical trajectory.
The collective are hitting the road with a tour highlighting their contribution to dance music. The tour, entitled 808 State: 30 Live, will see producer Lone join the group at every stop and Pearson Sound play as a special guest. Commencing at London’s Koko on 23 November, the group’s touring schedule includes dates at Bristol’s SWX (1 December), Birmingham’s O2 Institute (8 December) and Sheffield’s The Foundry (14 December), before finishing at Glasgow’s SWG3 (15 December).
Currently, the group are working on their sixth studio album Transmission Suite. New material from the upcoming LP will be performed during the tour.
The group told Mixmag, “808 State: 30 Live will be a brand new live show, updated with new versions of material from all of our albums with a good dose of new material added from our new album we’re currently working on, tracks from which will make their live debut.”
“There was me and my mate Walshy when we first got into the hardcore rave scene back in 1996. He had a box full of tapes and videos at his house, which we used to go through, and one day, one we put on was 808 State’s In Yer Face,” Lone said. “I put it on in my mum’s car and it was then I realised it was possible to incorporate proper heart and melody in to the context of ‘rave’ music. That was my first big push and inspiration to making my own music.”
