A Berlin museum is exhibiting Tresor’s door as a cultural artefact

Tresor Door Berlin

Berlin Museum The Humboldt Forum is hosting a exhibition featuring the iconic venue’s door.

Tresor’s door has been recognised for its rich cultural history, and it’s now being presented as one of 15 items in an exhibition called Humboldt Forum Highlights. Alongside the door are Roman Empire artefacts and ancient mosaics, all of which will stay in the cultural space until May 2019.

Tresor was founded in 1991 and closed in 2005, before it relocated to a renovated power plant in Köpenicker Straße. The door itself is culturally significant for its history, having been used to protect safety deposit boxes in the 1920s. The museum explains, “Today, the door reminds us of the pulsating party culture of the 1990s and symbolises the city’s free spaces, which gave birth to a lively cultural scene. This object truly reflects Berlin’s eventful history.”

Humboldt Forum Highlights is a permanent exhibition. Head to the museum’s website for more information.
