The KLF to build People’s Pyramid made of ashes from dead people

The KLF have announced their plans for an event called the Toxteth Day of the Dead.

The special event will be held at Liverpool’s Toxteth Town Hall on 23 November, and the group will mark the occasion with the instalment of the People’s Pyramid. Set to be built by K2 Plant Hire Ltd, the pyramid will be made using 34592 bricks, with each containing the ashes of a dead person. The process, as the duo state on the website, is called MuMufication, whereby “23 grams of an individual’s ashes are fired in a brick”.

Fans can sign up for MuMufication online. As stated, the process will usually cost £99 but Black Friday offers will discount it to 99p for those “aged 80 or over and a resident of Toxteth/L8”, or £9.99 for people aged under 23. The first ‘MuMufied’ bricks will be laid down on the Toxteth Day of the Dead.

Members Jimmy Cauty and Bill Drummond are also set to unveil an unexpected item during the event, between 12pm (GMT) and 9pm (GMT). To gain access to the town hall on the day, members of the public must present staff with a full-sized supermarket shopping trolley. However, the fee will be waived for those living within the Liverpool 8 postcode and for people who’ve signed up for MuMufication.

Last year, the KLF made their return with a three-day live event and the book 2023: A Trilogy.
