Berlin Community Radio is closing down

Independent radio station Berlin Community Radio will shut down and stop broadcasting on 5 February 2019.

The much-loved station has released a statement on their website detailing that they’ve “reached a dead end and spirits have fallen low after losing all funding in 2018.”

The statement, written by station founders Anastazja Moser and Sarah Miles, goes on, “We realize for many this comes as a shock and surprise but unfortunately as it is, BCR is not a sustainable model. Please believe us that we have tried every angle and left no stone unturned but we exhausted all options.”

Having run for almost six years, the station has welcomed many of the biggest and best names in contemporary electronic music into their studio. Laurel Halo, Palms Trax, Pan Daijing, Call Super, DJ Richard and many others delivered shows on the station during its run.

“Thank you so much for all the time, energy, love and support throughout.” The statement reads, “BCR is all of you. Some things are not meant to be forever. Let’s celebrate what we accomplished over the past years and hope BCR will survive in the memories of everyone who helped, created, hosted and listened!”
