Berlin’s Renate unveils its January programme

Frauengedeck Renate

The Friedrichshain dance venue is set to kick off 2019 with a stellar rotation of techno, house and disco.

Newly recovered from its 39-hour NYE party, Berlin’s Renate has released details of its January bookings.

Starting with 12-hour industrial techno party Nebel on 11 January, the club’s three rooms will house acts like veteran Thomas Heckmann, Leipzig techno aficionado Templeton and Artwerk-signee Vonda7. The long-running Pretty/Ugly returns the following day on 12 January, with a robust line-up including the chameleonic Borrowed Identity and Berghain regular Oliver Deutschmann.

At Liquid on 19 January, Renate’s green room will host Housemeister and T.Raumschmiere as part of a takeover from Berlin label Unreel Records. The event’s other rooms will witness sets from the likes of British producer BNJM and Swedish techno selector Patrick Siech.

Paper, a rousing night of house and disco taking place on 26 January, will help you shake off the winter slump. The line-up features Optimo Trax affiliate Jasper James, NTS regular Donna Leake and techno selector San Soda, as well as a live set from German duo ANNANAN.

Sending off January in style, regular fetish night The House of Red Doors hosts a birthday extravaganza for its third anniversary on 31 January. The party will span a total of 17 hours, running from 11pm to 4pm on 1 February. Paying homage to the Berlin of the Weimar Republic, it’s set to be a highly hedonistic evening of self expression – albeit with a strict 1920s dress code.
