Moses Boyd, Sun Ra Arkestra and Emma-Jean Thackray announced for new festival Berlin Jazz Experiment

The festival will stage its inaugural edition at Berlin’s Holzmarkt from 31 May to 2 June.

Berlin Jazz Experiment has revealed details of its debut edition. The line-up includes London drummer Moses Boyd, UK jazz trumpeter Emma-Jean Thackray, avant-jazz group Sun Ra Arkestra, jazz-house fusion artist Max Graef and New York soul musician duendita.

Completing the line-up are Rayana Jay, The Elliot Galvin Trio, Binker Golding, SHALOSH, Melanie de Biasio, Meshell Ndegeo, LIUN + The Science Fiction Band and Lucia Cadotsch. Alongside a range of musical performances, the festival will also explore jazz’s social purpose through a range of workshops and panel discussions.

The events will unfold over three days in Holzmarkt, an open-air cultural space located in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg alongside the River Spree.
