Flow Festival will be teaming up with the Finnish National Opera for two special performances.

This year, the Finnish festival is set to make its return to Helsinki’s Suvilahti on 9-11 August. In the lead-up to the main event, Flow will take over the Finnish National Opera’s Almi Hall for a two-day opening ceremony on 7-8 August.

Flow will kick off proceedings with a performance of Autobiography Edits, a dance show featuring a live score by Jlin and 10 dancers performing choreography designed by Wayne McGregor. Fractal Fantasy’s Sinjin Hawke and Zora Jones will open both nights with their audiovisual experimentations with motion capture technology, and the Almi Hall foyer will host DJ sets in between.

Those previously announced for the festival’s line-up include Erykah Badu, Robyn, Blood Orange, slowthai and Yves Tumor.

Tickets for the opening will go on sale on 3 April. Head to the festival’s website for further information, and read Crack Magazine’s exclusive In Conversation feature with Jlin.
