Childish Gambino’s Guava Island film will be released on Amazon Prime, and there’s now a short teaser trailer.
This week, it was announced that Guava Island will be premiered at Coachella on 12 April – the same day as Glover’s headline slot at the event. Now, it’s been confirmed that the film will premiere after his set. According to Variety, Guava Island will be screened in a specially constructed theatre, with showings of the film set to continue throughout the duration of the festival. For those who won’t be attending Coachella, Guava Island will be available to watch on Amazon Prime a day later, from 13 April.

The Amazon Prime page includes a short video teaser of the film featuring Rihanna dancing with Glover in Cuba. Amazon Studios has also announced that the film is a “tropical thriller” about a local musician, determined to throw a festival for everyone to enjoy. Nonso Anozi and Letitia Wright will star in the film alongside Rihanna. Gambino’s brother Stephen Glover has been confirmed as the film’s executive producer, along with Hiro Murai and Ibra Ake.
Murai has previously worked with Glover on a number of projects, directing and producing his show Atlanta, as well as the music videos for Childish Gambino’s tracks Sober, Sweatpants and This Is America.
