Academy of Contemporary Music launches UK’s first MC and rapping degree

Acamedy of Contemporary Music

The Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) will launch a new degree pathway specifically for MCs and rappers this September.

Led by London MC ShaoDow, the degree pathway will feature masterclasses from established MCs and will aim to improve students’ writing, rapping and performing ability.

The course will also offer students an insight into the business side of the industry and provide networking opportunities within the music industry. Available across the ACM’s Guildford and Birmingham campuses students will also have a chance to learn beat-making and engineering as part of the degree.

In a press release, Kainne Clements, CEO and Executive Chairman of ACM said: “I could not be more proud of the team at ACM who have put together this incredible programme for lyricists, rappers, MCs, and those of you who want to make beats. You know that you can really only get to where you want to be by collaborating – so that is what this is all about, and I cannot wait to see what happens next.”

The Academy of Contemporary Music’s Music Industry Practice  – Rap and MC Pathway launches this September and is available as both a two and three-year course with students receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree upon graduation.
