Yoko Ono exhibition to be held in Bristol

This will be her first solo Bristol show.

The Georgian House Museum in Bristol is set to host an exhibition by Yoko Ono. Titled YOKO ONO: INTERVENTIONS/2, the exhibit will take place 28 September – 31 December 2019. The show takes it title from a previous exhibition of Ono’s, INTERVENTIONS and includes elements of it with the addition of Wish Trees and Ono’s more recent work ARISING, which addresses the abuse of women by men.

Curator Jimmy Galvin hopes the Bristol exhibition informs people about the city’s past: “It is a way to bring a new spotlight onto Bristol’s heritage and involvement with the slave trade, and as with all great art, it gives us permission to open dialogue and create a better understanding of ourselves and our city’s past, as well as its future, and what role we need it to perform.”

Yoko also left a message for the city. Her handwritten note read: “To Bristol, Move with grace, move with joy, move with love. Peace, Yoko Ono”.
