Mica Levi has composed the score for a new short by director Jonathan Glazer. Titled The Fall, the six-minute film depicts a mob hanging a man in the forest, chasing him down from a tree before throwing him down a well. Levi’s score takes centre stage thanks to the lack of dialogue, reaching its most dramatic moments as the film’s victim plunges down the well.

Speaking to The Guardian on Sunday, Glazer said of The Fall: “I think fear is ever-present, and that drives people to irrational behaviour. A mob encourages an abdication of personal responsibility. The rise of National Socialism in Germany for instance was like a fever that took hold of people. We can see that happening again.”

The short appeared on BBC Two on Sunday night with no opening or credits and is now available to watch on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
