The Düsseldorf venue is back this month.
After temporarily closing in November 2018 due to major water damage, Salon des Amateurs is now set to reopen next week, on 25 October. The team behind the venue have created a Facebook event for the opening weekend, which confirms that they will host local selector Aki Aki, Brooklyn’s DJ Rasputin and Rearview Radio on Friday night (25 October). The next night (26 October) will see Philipp Otterbach, Frank D’Arpino and owner Tolouse Low Trax head up the space.
On the event page, the organisers state that a number of spatial and conceptual changes have been made to the club. According to Westdeutsche Zeitung, the club will close at 4.30am during the weekend and operate as a cafe from noon during the week.
Salon des Amateurs is famed for giving rise to artists such as Lena Willikens, Vladimir Ivkovic and Jan Schulte. In a 2017 feature with Crack Magazine, Schulte recalled, “One day I heard there was this club where they play music like nowhere else. From my first evening [at Salon] I was hooked. There were a lot of nights when only 20 people were there but the flair was always the same.”
