Dev Hynes – better known as Blood Orange – has announced the release date for his Queen & Slim score.
In August, the musician announced that he’d stepped up to soundtrack Lena Waithe’s new film Queen & Slim. Now, Hynes has confirmed the release date, and it’ll arrive this Friday (22 November) via Domino. Furthermore, he’s shared two new songs from the score, titled Hair and Kissed All Your Scars.
The score will follow Queen and Slim: The Soundtrack, which was released last week with a tracklist featuring Vince Staples, Syd, Ms Lauryn Hill, Moses Sumney and more.
Queen & Slim stars Get Out‘s Daniel Kaluuya alongside Jodie Turner-Smith as two young lovers who become unlikely fugitives after witnessing a shooting. The forthcoming film is written and produced by Lena Waithe and directed by Melina Matsoukas.
This project will mark Blood Orange’s second full-length feature score, following his work for Gia Coppola’s 2013 film Palo Alto. It’s set to be Hynes’ latest body of work since the Angel’s Pulse mixtape, released earlier this year in July.
Queen & Slim will arrive in cinemas in North America on 27 November, and in the UK on 31 January 2020. Pre-order the score here, and revisit our cover story with Blood Orange.
