The sleeve from Burial’s Untrue is the inspiration behind the new deck design.
Alien Workshop, Yaje Popson and Hyperdub have teamed up to release a Burial Untrue inspired skateboard deck.
According to the product description on the Hypderub website, Popson, a huge fan of the record, approached Alien Workshop at the end of 2018 asking to create a deck based on the Untrue artwork. The skater’s enthusiasm resonated with Burial and alongside Alien Workshop designer Joe Castrucci, the pair set about creating the new deck.
Speaking about the record Popson said: “[Untrue’s] city soundscape resonates because as a skater I am constantly engulfed in the streets of the metropolis, looking for skate spots amongst the rat race of Gotham… skateboarding gives us a reason to explore and appreciate the grittiness of city life.”
The deck is available for £55 from the Hyperdub website.
