The Kraftwerk co-founder has died.

Florian Schneider has passed away aged 73. While there has been no public statement from Kraftwerk or any of Schneider’s representatives, Billboard has confirmed reports of his passing. A cause of death has not been announced.

A foundational figure in electronic music, best known as the co-founder of Kraftwerk, Schneider’s influence has been felt far and wide. David Bowie famously named his Heroes track V-2 Schneider after the musician. Scheider founded Kraftwerk with Ralf Hütter in 1970 and remained at the core of the group’s line-up until 2008.
