Lana Del Rey’s new album is called Chemtrails Over the Country Club

Lana Del Rey has revealed the title of her newly announced album.

Taking to Instagram Live over the bank holiday weekend, Lana Del Rey told fans that her new album will be called Chemtrails Over the Country Club. Last week, in a lengthy Instagram post addressing the critical reception of her work, she announced the album would be released on 5 September.

As Stereogum report, while on Live, Del Rey also addressed criticisms of her original post last week, claiming that people had misinterpreted the point of her statement. Many people criticised the singer after she compared the reaction to her music to that of other prominent female singers, most of whom were women of colour. In the same post, Del Rey went to say that there needed to be “a place for women who look and act like me” in feminism, prompting a backlash from users on Twitter and Instagram.

Speaking on Live, she said “I just think it’s sad that the women I mentioned, whether they sing about getting money or whatever, the same stuff that I’ve been singing about, chronicling for 13 years. That’s why I’m in that echelon. Yes, they are my friends and peers and contemporaries. The difference is when I get on the pole people call me a whore, but when twigs gets on the pole it’s art.” She concluded “So God bless and yeah, fuck off if you don’t like the post.

Lana Del Rey also shared a new spoken-word piece titled Patent Leather Do-Over. Listen to that below and watch an archived version of her Instagram Live above.
