Little Richard, one the founders of rock music, has passed away.
Little Richard has died aged 87. Rolling Stone broke the news earlier today (9 May), reporting that Richards’ son Danny Penniman confirmed the news of his passing. The cause of death is currently unknown.
Little Richard is regarded as one of the first musicians to bring rock music to popularity in America and is best known for standout hits like Tutti Frutti, Good Golly Miss Molly and Long Tall Sally. He has been cited as an influence by everyone from David Bowie to Jimi Hendrix, James Brown to Bob Dylan. Tributes have come in on social media from the likes of Nile Rodgers, Bob Dylan, Mykki Blanco, Sleaford Mods and many more.
